Silent strokes or CATH may contribute to neurological impairment. NeoDoppler non-invasive ultrasound system based on plane wave transmissions continuously monitor cerebral blood flow infants an open fontanelle. Gaseous- passing through beam create High Intensity Transient Signals (HITS) Doppler signal. Purpose We aimed study amount HITS using NeoDoppler. Methods probe operates at frequency 7.8 MHz. frame rate 300 fps covers wide cylindrical area (10/35mm width/depth). displays color M-mode spectrogram. broad permits prolonged scanning time each event as move beam. high framerate allows tracking embolies depth. In this was attached anterior fontanelle CHD (n = 15) cardiac 13). were defined intensity signal creating skewed lines moving away towards (blue/red) corresponding grouped into single curtain effect. Single effect multiple increase that filled entire doppler curve. are believed represent numerous could not be separated from other manually detected in-house MatLab application. Results group consisted 28 (17 males) different who underwent surgery. median age weight 96 days (range 3-240 days) 5650 g 2400-8085 g). 13/15 patients total 392 (Median 12, Range 0-149) all 772 45, 11-150). picture shows examples (panel A) B). Conclusion we found enables detection frequent undergoing CATH. become useful tool guide modifications procedures, aim reduce silent stroke. However, further studies needed validate technique. High-intensity transient signals during laparoscopic surgery in children.
BACKGROUND Laparoscopic interventions in children gain increasing popularity. Pneumoperitoneum as applied during laparoscopic surgery can induce gas emboli formation, but it is unclear whether this is associated with cerebral embolic events. To investigate the hypothesis that pneumoperitoneum causes cerebral emboli in children, the number and intensity of high-intensity transient signals (HITS)...

An asymptomatic 33 year-old Caucasian male presented for routine imaging following a St. Jude's bi-leaflet aortic valve replacement some 6 months previously. The images show high-intensity transient signals (HITS) just below the aortic valve in both par-asternal and apical long axis views. The valve replacement otherwise appeared healthy. HITS are thought to be microbubbles which occur due to c...

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has long been recognized as a useful technique for guiding diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Biopsies have been guided by MRI since the 1980s1; neurosurgery followed soon thereafter.2 Excellent soft tissue contrast and accurate spatial localization and display in 3 dimensions were particular advantages of MRI over other modalities in neurological and body i...
متن کاملCephalometric Measurements in Infants with Congenital Heart Disease Compared to Healthy Infants
Introduction: The lack of adequate blood perfusion through different organs of the body, including the brain and skull, can be caused by any type of circulation abnormality. The purpose of this study is to compare cephalometric indices between infants under the age of 12 months who have congenital heart disease (CHD) and normal infants. Materials and Methods: This case-control study was ca...
